Notes
The world of nature and conservation frequently inform Kim Coley’s paintings in acrylic, household paint and charcoal. Her current work is inspired by the abundance of wild birds and flowers to be found in her native North Yorkshire. Coley uses “visual song writing” as an analogy for her creative process, and is interested in the tensions between observation, and expression, truth and imagination.
Her painting "Male Blackbird" was at the Royal Academy Summer Show 2021. Her most showing at Sunnybank Mills, "Drawn from the Land" Exhibition runs until mid-March.
