Terrence Higgins Trust, The Timed Auction 2021
18 FEBRUARY 2021 - 11 MARCH 2021Notes
British artist Sam Jackson studied at Middlesex University and the Royal Academy of Art. Jackson creates works that set a thought in motion, asking questions about what it is to be alive today.
His paintings use images from the worlds of DIY tattoos, addiction, homemade and amateur pornography, fantasy, youth culture, violence, Baroque and Renaissance painting, failure, literature and music. The beauty of painting as image is then played out with dreams and thoughts that oscillate through materials and application to bring together a ‘state or space’ that allows the viewer to be at one, to be taken away to a lucid world.
This work was produced for PROJECT PAPYROPHILIA. PROJECT PAPYROPHILIA is an ongoing work on paper initiative curated by international gallerist, curator and artist Zavier Ellis (director of CHARLIE SMITH LONDON). The project was launched in response to the first lockdown in order to support artists during challenging times. All work is unique. New work is consistently offered on www.artsy.net/charlie-smith-london. To enquire or for further information please email Zavier at [email protected].
This lot is kindly donated by Sam Jackson and CHARLIE SMITH LONDON.
