Terrence Higgins Trust, The Timed Auction 2021
18 FEBRUARY 2021 - 11 MARCH 2021Notes
Adam Dix lives and works in London and his work has been shown nationally and internationally, as well as being held in private and public collections around the world.
Diviner belongs to a collection of ink studies that are part of an ongoing body of work investigating the human desire and wonder to be physically or spiritually connected to each other and the universe; ceremonial, ritual, magical and practical responses that look at social solidarity through performance, custom and totemic objects.
Dix is interested in how our fascination with technology intersects with the spiritual imagination. In the words of Techgnosis author Erik Davis: ‘In this sense technologies of communication are always, at least potentially technologies of the sacred, simply because the ideas and experiences of the sacred have always informed human communication.’
This work was produced for PROJECT PAPYROPHILIA. PROJECT PAPYROPHILIA is an ongoing work on paper initiative curated by international gallerist, curator and artist Zavier Ellis (director of CHARLIE SMITH LONDON). The project was launched in response to the first lockdown in order to support artists during challenging times. All work is unique. New work is consistently offered on www.artsy.net/charlie-smith-london. To enquire or for further information please email Zavier at [email protected].
This lot is kindly donated by Adam Dix and CHARLIE SMITH LONDON
