Notes
Stefania Boiano captures the temperamental coastline with the fluidity of watercolour, monochromatic colours and a minimal composition.
Stefania has developed a technique without the use of a brush to achieve the fluidity in he work. She repetitively applies layers of water colour pigment over several days. At each application she allows the pigment to seep into the paper naturally. As it does so the paint can draw up neighbouring pigments creating a beautiful, organic blending process.
Like her subject matter, Stefania considers her works to be a harmony between "the forces of water, air and gravity".
Stefania Boiano’s work is inspired by her travels and is about the experience of the landscape. Rather than presenting a topographical reality, she abstracts the landscape through her memory and sensory impressions.
