Notes

Cool Your Jets 2 was inspired by the artist's long road-trip through the South-West of the USA.

Philip Mead focuses on utilising diversity of mixed media, found materials and worked surfaces. Both adding and subtracting different layers, Philip builds up a physical history in the very fabric of his work. The final state of the painting therefore hangs in the balance, in a state of equilibrium representing the interaction between constructive and deconstructive forces.

The images which result from these various processes are highly charged by the energy instilled into them and through the associated values of the found objects contained within them.
