Notes

Max Mason draws on life in the city celebrating the every day and the mundane in exquisitely painted scenes.

Often Max's work reconfigures familiar scenes, such as children riding bikes in the park or despondent coffee drinks and vape smokers, to construct narratives and personal mythologies.

Max draws upon imagery from a variety of sources to create tableaus which are often cinematic or theatrical. Working on a series of paintings at a time, the smaller paintings are often based on memory or observation and often provide the iconography for Max's larger works.
