Notes
Holly Warburton aims to bridge the gap between digital and painted mark making in her beautiful drawings of passers-by made with a drawing tablet and computer.
The artist makes observational sketches from life that are subsequently worked into digital drawings. "I am most inspired by people I see in day-to-day environments, so I often make sketches when commuting or wandering through cities such as Bath or London. These form the basis for most of my digital work."
Holly describes bringing the works to life with digital colour, a technique developed over time. "The key element that keeps bringing me back to this process is the vibrance of colour that can be achieved when working with a screen-based medium."
An award winning animator, Holly Warburton's practise spans genres and her work often encapsulates the essence of human behaviour. Light and fleshing, her work is not whimsical, but instead charming and closely observed.
