The Hands Up Foundation Fundraiser Curated by Cramer & Bell (56/72)

Notes

Maya was born in Amman, Jordan and has spent half of her life in the Middle East and the other half in Europe. Wherever she is, she is inspired by the weather, the climate and the landscapes around her. During her time working as a research scientist in medicinal chemistry in Cambridge, UK, she began to experiment with photography as a creative outlet, particularly with 35mm film. The focus of her work is the relationship between the natural world and the human experience. She enjoys transforming a scene such that it becomes what the mind sees rather than what the camera sees. Her love of colour and of timeless landscapes hugely influences her photos - the result is a body of work that is ethereal, playful and melancholic.
