I am a painter in East London, working in both abstract a figurative traditions. My work is always layered and often quite sculptural, as I explore my own layered understanding of life through colour and texture. When not painting I work on food autonomy and community care projects in my area.
Layers of reclaimed materials create the pieces structures and textures, reminiscent of the contours of a land. It is a metallic copper to indicate beauty and preciousness, but it is also barren. On its surface, black marks and splatters of red compete with patches of green--a fight for life.
