Notes
Rayvenn D'Clark is a London-based sculptor who specialises in life casting, body casting and prosthetics. She is concerned with issues of African diaspora, gender and the politics of visibility.
The plaster sculpture Untitled (737935) is the result of D'Clark's exploration into the hybridity of sculpture and the digital, and an exploration of her own identity that chronicles the elevated reframing of the black anatomy.
In making such work, D'Clark felt the need to engage within the process of keeping the black figures at the forefront of our consciousness, the image of black bodies becoming lasting and impermeable by being sculptured into objects, through extending the practice of manifesting black bodies into less traditional mediums, it begs the question what the body politić is moving towards in the present.
