on the history of painting in the Western tradition, to explore ideas of memory and

perception as they relate to the architecture and topography of modern cities.

Through the employment and layering of different painterly styles and techniques,

producing work that reveals the traces of the past in the present moment, forming

visual ‘timelines’ in a single picture.

The Artwork featured is a watercolour, ink and graphite study for the larger oil

Exhibition Displacement in Paris 2016. The Artwork “The Boston, Tufnell Park,

study” was made in preparation for the larger work, it is a scene of an intersection

near where the artist lives in North London. The work was made “en plein air” and

has not previously been exhibited.
