About 
At the centre of both Colette’s personal life and art practice is her interest in geological and biological history as well as sustainability. She seeks to create beautiful, honest depictions that add to the earth rather than take from it. Themes include rewilding, naturalism and primitivism. On a most fundamental level, she endeavours to create work that doesn't offer everything upon the first viewing, but continues to give something new each time the art is viewed.

Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork 
As is typical of LaVette’s work, this piece explores rewilding and primitivism with Rococo like rhythm. The materials used to paint this piece are directly from the ground, such as bohemian green earth, ochres, red earth and iron oxide. Although this piece could be left outside and would return to the ground leaving no trace, while it is hung on walls the archival qualities are incomparable. For example, the iron oxide is the same used by early modern man on the walls of caves.
