About

I am an interdisciplinary artist looking at the relationship between art, science and data with a particular interest in astronomy and climate change. I graduated from Central Saint Martins’s MA Art and Science program in 2019 with a distinction and I also attended UCA Maidstone for my foundation diploma and Kingston University London where I studied for a BA in Fine Art graduating in 2010. I have exhibited widely in the UK and abroad as well as visited and worked with several sights of scientific and historical significance such as CERN, Royal Observatory Greenwich, The Royal Society and UCL Observatory. I was invited to become an artist in residence with Planet Labs in 2021, where I was given access to Planet’s global imaging library to develop work looking at the effects of climate change. This opportunity then led to my work being launched into space in 2022 as part of Planet’s Art in Space programme. I work across many mediums including painting, printing and fibre art as well as digital art-making techniques such as AI analysis and creative coding. My postcard ‘Window to Space’ is a combination of analogue and digital art-making techniques combining images and the colours of the cosmos.

Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork

The collage I have donated represents a merging of my work, examining the colors found in the cosmos, and my work involving found images of space. The colors used in the piece are generated using AI code, which analyzes the colors found in images of the night sky. The image of the galaxy is sourced from a series of pictures found in various places, such as old encyclopedias, textbooks and charity shops.

The combination of digital and analogue techniques often occurs in my practise as I love the combination of using virtual processes and making work with my own two hands. I have consistently employed collage as a conduit to explore new ideas and as a way to use any materials left over from my other works. I really enjoy the process!

You must not reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell or exploit any works. In doing so, you endanger our relationships with artists, and directly jeopardise the charitable work we do.
