Tilly Slight showcases hand thrown miniature ceramics and full size work made under the moniker Fifty Shapes of Clay. After being a member of Phoenix Pottery in Islington for many years, she began to experiment with how to make pottery possible at home during the covid UK national lockdown. 

Using a miniature pottery wheel she began honing her craft in miniature form. To fire the works, she tested an unusual miniature kiln, which works without having its own power source, and instead uses a kitchen microwave for energy. The kiln heats up exponentially when subject to microwave power, reaching temperatures of 1300 °C. Experiments with glazes followed swiftly from there: with no temperature gauge, each colour glaze requires a lot of testing to ensure the perfect result. Since the lockdown was lifted, Tilly has also resumed her studio practice, making full scale unique homeware and sculpture, from a studio in Oval, London.
