Courtney Love x Parliament Tattoo Charity Auction

Chloe Sheppard is a multidisciplinary artist, currently based just outside of London. Her work is inspired by longing, bittersweet nostalgia, chaos and loss. 

The piece I created for this exhibition was originally a handmade collage, which I then digitally manipulated before screen printing. All of my collages over the years have had lyrics splayed across the page, and I knew for sure that this piece should have the same, as Hole's lyrics have been so seminal to processing my own emotions. The screen print is in red ink, adding a blood-like vibrancy to images that, for me, encapsulate the almost tangible chaotic cravings and need spewing from Pretty On The Inside. The images fuse themes of vulnerability, psychoticness, revenge and conventional beauty into a mess, whose meaning is relayed in the intense desire behind the lyrics I chose, and the rage fuelling the entire album.
