Life on Venus III | The Organic, Timed Auction

"I was born in Iran three years after the Iranian Revolution and one year after the commencement of the Iran-Iraq war. My recent work explores the relationship between place, memory, and dislocation in connection to the emotional and affective investments they provoke and generate. My work tries to capture how we remember belonging, and a sense of attachment which can never be fully recovered, just as it is suffused with a profound sense of mournful loss for a place which is both familiar, and yet ceased to be wholly recognisable.

I obtained a BA degree in Fine Art from Wimbledon College of Arts (UAL) in 2015 and subsequently went on to pursue a MFA Fine Art at Goldsmiths, University of London, from which I took a break in 2017. I also attended Turps School correspondence course 2018-2019. I live and work in London." - Ala Jazayeri, 2020
