Make Art Not War

Ended

A curated collection of contemporary artworks celebrating the power of music and art for social change, raising critical funds for global charity In Place of War.

In Place of War uses creativity in places of conflict as a tool for positive change. We enable grassroots change-makers in music, theatre and visual art to transform a culture of violence and suffering into hope, opportunity and freedom. Funds raised from this auction will be supporting our network of change-makers in conflict zones around the world to conquer conflict with creativity. The change-maker network is made up of over 100 artists, creatives, activists and cultural leaders from 26 countries across Africa, South America, the Middle East and Europe, who are all working to create lasting change in their local communities through art and culture.

In Place of War CEO, Ruth Daniel, says, “It’s so exciting to bring together these amazing artists around a shared mission of conquering conflict with creativity. The money raised from the sale of these incredible works will help support our change-makers to continue saving lives, using art as the mechanism to help communities design and realise a different, more positive future - it will support setting up new cultural spaces and emboldening change-makers with our creative entrepreneurial programmes.”

Make Art Not War launches online on October 31st 2022 and closes on November 17th at a private fundraising event hosted by In Place of War Fellow Brian Eno.

This collection has been curated by Aaron Shrimpton of New Waverley Studios and Hannah Ford of Mint Collective.
