Notes
British artist Peter Ashton Jones studied at Kingston University. During his long career he has held posts including Policy Advisor at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and London Arts Director for Limehouse Arts Foundation. He is the co-founding Director and Editor of Turps Banana and Founder of the Lion and Lamb Gallery.
Regarding this piece, Ashton Jones states: ‘The red spinning top is a motif for the world. The dark house is an emblem for “the lockdowns” during the Coronavirus pandemic. The world seems to have stopped and we are all framed by a sense of disconnected isolation. The smoke flowing from the building is a metaphor for the will to continue with a sense of living.’
