Notes
“Our favourite spot in a bar is at the bar.” Lena Brazin's often surreal and always intriguing paintings are an invitation to explore another reality.
Lena explains her figurative and narrative painting: "I explore and express metaphysical, mystical, and spiritual themes of human life through an intuitive approach to painting where vivid colour and bold drawing form a base for my expressive language.
The use of exaggerated personal and symbolic imagery evokes questions and creates an imaginative space for the viewer to occupy. Multiple layers of paint, with different paces of application, reflect the complexity of the reality that we live in.
My work is a fusion of the two seemingly disconnected worlds of Seen and Unseen. Supernatural is often being shown through the invented cartoon and fluid-like characters which collide and merge with our reality. They are the bridge that leads the viewer to think beyond their material existence. I also describe this depiction and disclosure of other dimensions of our consciousness as „Materialised Immateriality“.
