Notes

For the music obsessed artist Charlie Oscar Patterson, No. 1-6 Black & Raw is constructed as if it were a piece of music itself.

Charlie works on 3D relief paintings that bridge a gap between sculpture, painting, and large scale murals. He treats his brushes as if it they were musical instruments, his three-dimensional canvases as a score, and looks to the act of painting as if he were playing this piece of music out loud for the first time.

Charlie's work is also routed in his fascination with colour and minimal forms. With a background in design from Chelsea College of Art and Design, his work is informed by a structured, gridded approach.
