Art Aid Ukraine

Mary Mabbutt has work in corporate and private collections in the UK, Europe and USA (eg Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, Arts Council, London, Coopers and Lybrand).  The present work was inspired by a feeling of questioning that the artist experienced after leaving her 30 years of Fine Art employment in Falmouth.  That feeling coincided with her reading John Lanchester’s thoughts as described in his book Whoops! about the financial crash.  Mary Mabbutt then set about making three large paintings and two small studies, of which this study is one, with the same title, to give substance to those thoughts about uncertainty, instability, and a break with common sense.
