Art Makes Lives Better

Born in Plymouth in 1942, Roger Harris studied at Kingston College of Art and Richmond College of Art. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including a major prize in the Cleveland International Drawing Biennale in 1993, and in 1994 he was elected an Associate Member of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers. Of his chosen medium, mezzotint, Harris has stated a preference for the mystery it can create: "in some lights (the images) can appear and disappear in and out of the deep rich surface."
