Notes
Peter Cochrane (United States, b. 1987), Magnolia Grandiflora
Peter Cochrane is a studio-based photographer who creates vibrant still life arrangements of flowers to tell stories of metamorphosis. With the juxtaposition of natural foliage against manmade materials, Cochrane expands on art historical representations of botanical life. He showcases nature’s fleeting vibrancy by including evidence of its inevitable decay, as seen in the wilting and dried flowers in this image, to represent larger cycles of life and death.
Peter Cochrane completed his MFA in 2019 from Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts and was a runner-up of the 2019 MoCP Snider Prize. In 2023, he was nominated for the Sphilman International Prize for Excellence in Photography.
