Notes
Jordan Putt (United States, b, 1992), South Kinney Rd, 2018
Jordan Putt’s Field Book (2016–ongoing) series depict scenes from his hometown of Tucson, AZ. Instead of showing traditional views of the landscape, his images show the messy, banal, and humorous moments that can encompass life in the American West. This image of beer bottles intentionally placed onto tree branches is representative of his photographic approach that details what people consider significant, insignificant, or sacred. Many of his images are clever, while telling a deeper story about our relationships to our country, to one another, and to the land.
Jordan Putt completed his BA in Psychology from Northern Arizona University and his MFA in Photography from Columbia College Chicago (2020). He was a recipient of the Research and Development Grant from the Arizona Commission on the Arts in 2022 and a finalist for the Dorothea Lange–Paul Taylor Award by Duke University in 2020. He is currently an instructor of photography at Georgia State University.
