Terrence Higgins Trust, The Timed Auction 2021 (3/62)

Notes

Protest (Apple) was one of the apples that originally featured on Barford's Apple Tree exhibited in MORE MORE MORE, at David Gill Gallery in 2019. The tree was laden with 90 unique bone china apples. Every one bore a single word and was hand painted by the artist, in rich, red oil paint. By prefixing each apple with the word ‘more’, Barford prompts us to question our desires.

Working across drawing, sculpture, film, installation and painting, Barford uses the apple as a lens to explore fundamental questions driving human nature.

This lot is kindly donated by Barnaby Barford and David Gill Gallery.
