Artist Statement:
My paintings explore the relationships and intimacy we share with our friends and even with ourselves. In this portrait of 'Bee', I intended to capture the elegance and subtlety of the female form. It was painted at a time in our lives where we both felt trapped in our relationships, which left us vulnerable and it deeply affected our mental health. I wanted to capture this raw moment and express to the viewer that it's ok to feel sad, it's ok to experience the lows because that's a part of life and the storm will pass. The lotus flowers I have depicted in my painting symbolise hope and the rising from a dark place into beauty and rebirth.
