Terrence Higgins Trust - 2023, Timed Auction
27 FEBRUARY 2023 - 10 MARCH 2023Notes
Dominic Myatt graduated from Goldsmiths in 2014 after studying Fine Art and History of Art and from the Royal Drawing School in 2019. He has since worked on commissions for clients such as Channel 4, Vivienne Westwood, SHOWstudio, Selfridges, and in 2021 produced Penile Papers, a book of phallic drawings with proceeds split between Terrence Higgins Trust and Runnymede Trust. His practice often explores the space between sexual fantasy and stark reality and is partly informed by his work as a tattooist. A copy of (no kissing) is held in the Tate collection.
(no kissing) is a collection of around 30 drawings by artist Dominic Myatt bound together in a book, each illustrating a “men seeking men” (m4m) ads from London’s Craigslist listings: typos and mis-spellings included. The ads range from the graphic to the sublime to the absurd, while the Egon Schiele-esque drawings are witty, sensitive and never seek to sensationalise the already-sensational.
