Notes

Alex J Wood is an award-winning British sculptor and painter, recognised by organisations such as The Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation (2015, 2017, 2018) and The Royal Society of British Artists (Rome Scholarship 2022). He won the Picton Art Prize in 2016 for his bronze sculpture, “Celestial” and a solo exhibition at The Museum of Contemporary Art London in 2022. His work features in public and private collections, including The Groucho Club. A selection of his work is also available at Paul Smith’s flagship store in Mayfair.

In stark contrast to seemingly timeless and serene landscapes the curious figure of a robot marauds across Monument Valley. The Marauder references man’s penetration and violation of the planet’s natural spaces. Age-old rock formations appear dwarfed by this obsolescent ‘boy’s toy‘, inviting the viewer to ponder the bigger picture of environmentally respectful and responsible technological development.

A card with an inscription to the winning bidder will be included with this lot.
