Notes
Jo Taylor uses clay to respond to architectural themes in order to create unique works. She combines pieces that are thrown, handbuilt or extruded to build ceramic sculpture with clay coloured by hand. She has exhibited widely including at Holburne Museum, Bath and the Saatchi Gallery.
Inspired by architectural features such as plaster ceilings, Perpetual IV seeks to evoke the drama of light and shadow as observed during different lighting conditions, such as a sunny day or a dark winter evening. The work’s three distinct sides can be viewed in the round; the name Perpetual refers to this continuous view as you move around the piece. The piece is unglazed in order to appreciate the qualities of pure porcelain.
This lot is kindly donated by Jo Taylor and Vessel Gallery.
